This LP was the last of the three that Jim Croce recorded for ABC/Dunhill, released after his death in a September plane crash. Although the title song and two others were not written by Jim, this album showcases his always improving songwriting and singing skills/5(63). Reply

Jim Croce performed the song on The Helen Reddy Show (Reddy was filling in for Flip Wilson during his summer vacation), and announced his album was going to be released in January ' It seems that the ABC Records folks rushed to release the single after Croce got killed in a plane crash from what I noticed in these comments.
